GODDESS GROUP

At the House of Yoga we began a Goddess Group in February 09. We have been meeting weekly to share ideas for living healthy, happy, peaceful, & prosperous lives. Up til now we have been using an outline based on Christine Horner, MD's book, Waking The Warrior Goddess. She suggests a list of 30 "habits" that will help the body heal itself (much of the discussion in the book is on Breast Cancer, but the habits translate into over all improvement of health).

We have shared recipies to make such things as flax seeds (be sure to grind them before consuming), soy, & turmeric more available in our diets. We have become a research maniacs... as we all feel it's our responsibility to make well informed and well thought out choices.

As I learn more about blogging I realize this is a much better format for this ongoing discussion and support system. From this point on I will be posting the weekly "habit" or concept for discussion and then it's up to the rest of you to help me keep this going.

So, if you are interested in having access to a lot of women who are on the same journey as you, who will support you, love you, care for you, teach you and be willing to learn from you... you are in the right place and WELCOME TO THE GODDESS GROUP BLOG!

Namaste, Nancy

  2. Week of April 6 2009
Discussion was on Non Toxic Cleaning Products. Book suggestions: The Queen of Clean & Green Clean.
Angie offered Microwave Cleaning Idea; ceramic bowl filled 1/2 & 1/2 vinegar and water. Cook for 5 minutes in mw. It will steam clean even the vents. Thank you Angie!
Linda suggested using Microfiber cloths for all cleaning. And to buy them cheaper, go to an auto parts store such as Napa Auto.
FOR NEXT WEEK: Herbal Adaptogens to lower the body's response to stress. Please join us!

  3. Hello Nancy! I am so glad that you expanded the Goddess group online. I was looking at your class schedule and thought... man! if only I were in Redding for that class! The internet makes The House of Yoga seem not so far away. This group is a great idea. Thank you for inviting me :)

  5. Welcome Judy, Carley & Jody! Thank you so much for joining us! Jody, to answer your question; You can use the blog may ways. You just read what others are writing about and make comments, ask questions, share information or links to pertinent websites... Or if you have something of interest to share you can use this blog for that as well. Really anything that you want to say, know or learn about. Namaste, Nancy

  6. Nancy, I just started reading a book that Linda gave me called YOGA NIDRA The Meditative Heart of Yoga by Richard Miller. I know that you have a workshop on this scheduled at the studio in May. I was wondering if you thought this would be beneficial to someone who struggles with an 'addiction' to sugar?

  7. I am off to my iRest training until Sunday. I hope you will all continue in my absence and keep this process going. I love your comments so far and have a great feeling about what we can accomplish!

  8. Judy,
I believe that anything you are addicted to has an underlying root that might very well be released through the process of yoga nidra. I will certainly pose that question during my training with Richard Miller and let you know upon my return. However, you don't need to have an addiction to deeply benefit from this ancient healing technique. Hugs, N
